Die junge Halde – “a place called home”

What role does “Heimat” play in today’s society?

From individual to individual “Heimat” is perceived differently and can take on various meanings. It is precisely these differences, how “Heimat” is subjectively thought, felt and reflected, that are the focus of the project “Die junge Halde”. The term “Heimat” is ambivalent and controversial. On the one hand, it contains associations with homeland, nationalism and patriotism, which are also associated with demarcation and exclusion. On the other hand, however, it can also embody associations such as the place of birth, the familiar house, the family or the attachment to a place.
